A couple of weeks (or months) ago i heard about a new feature in Sparrow promoting a Dropbox integration, which copies attachments to your public folder and sending a link instead of the file.
This feature almost made me switch from Apple Mail to Sparrow.
Copying the file - generating the link - pasting the link - editing the subject - was a little bit annoying to me.

I was searching the web for a plug in or something else giving mail.app the same ability.
But after a long long search i did not find a “out of the box” solution.

So i gathered some script snippets and made one myself. Many thanks to Ben Cardy most of the script was created by him.

Just download the script and open it in Apple Script-Editor, edit the DropBoxID (you can find it in your public links) and enter the right path to your public folder. After that just export it as application and your mail droplet is ready! Just drag any file on that droplet and it will create a new e-mail containing a public link to the dropped file.

indesign and excel address files with “ö, ä, ü” are no buddys.

looks like excel always messes up the encoding when saving as *.txt, only text edit do it the way it should be.

How to pimp your callas pdfToolbox

A couple of hours ago i tweeted that i love to pimp my pdfToolbox. And here is how i did it.

Callas uses a set of files to display the available profiles in the Switchboard. The set contains a XML file a PNG file and the ICC profile itself. To use your custom made icon you just have to adapt the .png file located in:

/Users/~/Library/Preferences/callas software/callas pdfToolbox 5.5/DeviceLink

make sure you don´t change the name of the png file when saving the edited image.

I know that´s not something that boosts your productivity but i love eye candy ;-)
